Verpact encourages the use of recycled plastic from Europe

From 1 January 2027, Verpact will introduce an additional discount on the waste management fee for the use of recycled plastic sourced from Europe. Certain renewable raw materials, such as bio-PE, bio-PP and bio-PET, will also qualify. This initiative aims to boost demand for circular raw materials, particularly those from Europe, and contribute to a stable market for recycled materials.
This is a positive development. A circular packaging value chain requires both collaboration and incentives that make using recycled raw materials more attractive. This incentive is intended to help ensure sufficient recycling capacity and a stable market for recycled materials.

For businesses, this is a good time to explore opportunities to use recycled plastic together with their value chain partners. Through CPF, we bring together knowledge, innovation and partners to create a lasting impact.
